Felting Classes 2008
May - September
Classes fill quickly. Sign up as soon as possible.
*Payment Policies
All classes must be prepaid in full to be
registered in class. Checks are made to Claudia Hoffberg
and mailed to 422 Colusa Ave. Kensington, CA 94707. We
do not accept credit cards. Classes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
(Class credit is available for cancellations made four (4) weeks prior
to the beginning of class. $20 cancellation fee applies.)
Semester classes are considered one class.
Classes cannot be taken individually or refunded.

We will explore pillows, rugs, and slipcovers to getting everything
in your house felted.

softer place. We will try flat felting with lots of color and felting
using resists.

Make Felt. Dye it Blue: Session 3 of
Advanced Felting Semester

We will make an indigo pot and an acid dye pot to dip and dye projects
of your choice. Shibori sewing, and dying will be reviewed - but
the focus will be on making your own work and using the dye pots
as you wish.

We will make an indigo pot and learn a few easy shibori methods.
Then you can felt and nono felt scarves, shawls, or fabric, and
dye them as you wish.

Advanced Felting Semester
This is for experienced felt makers and artists who want to work
regularly and deeply with a supportive group to develop their work.
The entire semester is considered one class. Classes cannot
be taken individually or refunded.
First weekend of each month (5 days total)
All classes 10 am - 5 pm (extended studio hours included)
Cost: $450 (materials not included)
Beginning / Intermediate Felting Semester
This class is for feltmakers and artists with some experience with
felting who would like to develop their own voice, learn lots more
about felting, and work with a supportive group every month
The entire semester is considered one class. Classes cannot
be taken individually or refunded.
Second weekend of each month (5 days total)
All classes 10 am - 5 pm (extended studio hours included)

Advanced
Felting Semester

Session 1: Summer Dying and Surface Design

We will begin using cold water, procion dyes for dying fabric,
and felt. We'll try painting resists, multiple dye baths, and lots
more.

Session 2: Sculptural Felt, Slashing, Ruffling,
Layering

This class will cover using multiple plastic resists to create
sculpture, clothing, and wall pieces.

Intermediate Felting Semester

Session 1: Acid Dyeing for Fiber, Fabric, and Felt

This class will cover dying fiber, fabric and felt with acid dyes.
We will try high and low immersion dying, crubling, open vats, and
can dying. You will ahve beautiful fiber and fabric at the end to
felt with.

Session 2: Layered, Ruffled, Slashed
|
|
We will make complex, layered surfaces using multiple plastic resists
and a variety of cutting and carving methods. these methods can
be used for scarves, bags, or wall pieces.
