Advanced Felting Semester

This is for experienced felt makers and artists who want to work regularly and deeply with a supportive group to develop their work.

The entire semester is considered one class. Classes cannot be taken individually or refunded.

First weekend of each month (5 days total)

All classes 10 am - 5 pm (extended studio hours included)

Cost: 3 month semester $450 (materials not included)

Beginning / Intermediate Felting Semester

This class is for feltmakers and artists with some experience with felting who would like to develop their own voice, learn lots more about felting, and work with a supportive group every month

The entire semester is considered one class. Classes cannot be taken individually or refunded (exceptions noted below)

Second weekend of each month (6 days total)

All classes 10 am - 5 pm (extended studio hours included)

Cost: $180 per classs or 3 weekends for $450 (materials not included)

Advanced Felting Semester

April - September

Pattern

This class will explore using repeating motifs, using fabric for inspiration and will show how to make felt millefiori, and murrini to make your marks

Sun, April 4
10 am - 5 pm

This class will cover making felt sculptures in multiples, exploring the container forms, and the amazing options that felt offers for texture, color, and internal shape

Sat & Sun, May 1-2
10 am - 5 pm

Painting, Monoprinting, and Stamping on Fabric for felting

We will use silk and cotton, rollers, brushes, sponges, and procian dyes to make printed silk and cotton for felting

Sat & Sun, June 5-6
10 am - 5 pm

We will make felt from local fleece, dye fleece and felt with the natural dyes madder, cochineal, fustic, and indigo. We will stain felt with tea, rust, and marigold and experiment with alum, copper, and iron

July 30 - Aug 1
10 am - 5 pm

You can make so many amazing surfaces with felt- imbed fabrics, carve, layer color, sew, quilt, weave, stain, burn. We will use different surfaces to make wall hangings, quilts, collages and installation

Beginning and Intermediate Felting Semester*

April - September

Intro Class to Feltmaking - Indigo and Shibori

We will explore many methods for making 3-D shaping on your flat felting including dying, sewing, and fake shibori, then overdye your pieces in a natural indigo pot. All the basics of feltmaking will be covered. All levels welcome

We will learn an easy, clever way to make felt containers withour using a resist. We will also consider handles, closures, and shaping over various forms. Some felting experience necessary.

Felting for Your House

Rugs, placemats slip covers, cushions - all can be made of think, strong, colorful felt. We also discuss layering, pattern and making marks Prereq: 1 weekend felting class at Deep Color

10 am - 5 pm

Learn to make an easy beautiful flet scarf that you will wear all the time

Friday July 23
7-9 pm
$45 Take the entire weekend for $200!

Be your won fashion desingner and make ruffled, crimped, distressed silk and felt garments. We will use felt and various fabrics

Sat & Sun, July 24-25
10 am - 5 pm
$180 Take the entire weekend for $200!

We will explore even more shibori methods and add in mordanting, indog, and cochineal

August 20-22
