When you walk into Deep Color you will see walls of brilliantly colored fiber for felting and spinning, a rainbow of solid merino and corriedale, meditative plant dyed blue faced leicester, baby alpaca, cashmere, glittery silks, overflowing bags of polwarth roving. Our goal is to offer you every kind of color you could want to create with. All of our hand dyed fiber is available only at Deep Color.
For Spinning- we teach with white blue faced leicester. After you are comfortable we suggest trying the multicolor merino and merino tussah mixes and then move on to the polwarth, silk and cashmere. Spin the cashmere and silk lace weight for a scarf. Try black baby alpaca for a warm hat or rainbow dyed blue faced leicester for energized socks. Spin merino and yak blend to weave with on a rigid heddle loom. Make a sweater from one of our polwarth fleeces.
For Felting- Needle felters should use the corriedale- Wet felters should try the solid merino, the shinning merino/tencel, corriedale, hand dyed silk mixes and rainbow rovings. We also have great little felting kit with little swatches of many different colors for $14.00.
